A comprehensive tutor book to the ophicleide written by the leading UK expert on this much under played instrument. The book was written to be supplied with our new Wessex ophicleide, but is excellent for anyone with vintage ophicleide too with exercises, studies, melodies to play and orchestral excerpts.
How to use this book:
The first few pages of exercises are an easy introduction designed to help you familiarise yourself with the instrument.
There are exercises for both C and B flat instruments.
You then progress to exercises and studies in a variety of keys. Almost all of the 19th Century tutor books for ophicleide had duet parts for teacher and pupil and I’ve included some of those as well a selection of 19th century melodies to help you become more fluent on the instrument.
The final section of the book contains some of the more common orchestral excerpts as well as a few extracts from the solo repertoire for the instrument.
