#TWCThursdays4Free – Sachse – Concertino in Bb major (audio download)

    £0.00

Concertino in Bb major for Trombone and Brass Ensemble by Ernst Sachse (1813-1870) is one of Sachse’s few surviving compositions for trombone and shows just how rapidly virtuoso brass techniques developed during the decades of peace in Europe following the Napoleonic Wars.  Artfully performed on this recording by the legendary Ian Bousfield, on a small-bore Adolfe Sax trombone, it is an example of the theme and variation, or air varié solo, which became such a staple of the brass solo repertoire during the course of the nineteenth century.

This piece, together with works by Guilmant, Bellon and Sigismund Von Neukomm all feature on the ensemble’s album release – Resonances of Waterloo.

We’re all for positiveness during these challenging times, so as a musical gesture, we wanted to use our love for music as a way of showing our support, hopefully bringing little moments of pleasure and happiness to everyone who wishes to share in our weekly gifts.
